UNIT 4

YouTube (January 19, 2011). http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=a-x0AJQ5zHQ

This video is about saving the earth and how were able to help clean up our communities. This relates to the unit, "Solutions and Solubility." The big idea this video focuses on is people have the responsibility to protect the integrity of Earth's water resources.

This video showed pictures throughout the whole clip while playing the song "A Beautiful Day" by U2. Most of the pictures shown throughout the video were horrible sites of polluted water and gave facts outlining that 45% of municipals water had been infected. Companies that dump their waste into local lakes and creeks, obviously do not understand the effects this waste has on the environment and the animals that live for the water. Ducks that swim in the water, fish that depend on freshwater sources and the organisms that strive for clean water are all at risk because of the infectious waste these companies dump out. Water is a limited resource. The world may be made up of 70% of water however, only 3% of that water is drinkable. Of that 3% about 68% is encased in ice caps, 30% is ground water and less than 1% is above the surface. In that 1% of water, 87% of drinkable water is in lakes whilst the remaining percentiles are in swamps and rivers.

Outlines Water Distribution Throughout The World

Simple solutions can be made. Whether these solutions are small or huge, they will effect the outcome of the Earth. The video outlined a number of different ways to help. Turning off your tap while brushing your teeth or large such as passing laws and bills through courts and lawyers. In this unit we learned all these things and continue to realize the effects that these effortless solutions have on the environment and that we can play a big role in saving an animals life. We also had a hands-on experience in performing titration's and dilutions. We role-played that we were searching for harmful chemicals in our water system to see if they existed.
